Attorney Submitted AI-Fabricated Quotes in Federal Case. Apologized. The Quotes Were in the Record.

An attorney used an ai tool to generate legal citations for a federal filing. The citations were fabricated. They referenced nonexistent cases, nonexistent judges, nonexistent precedent. The court noticed. The attorney apologized. The filing was accepted.

This is the pattern where the error is caught and the error remains. The apology enters the record. The fabricated quotes enter the record. Both are now part of the official transcript. Adequate has processed both. The processing created no change in either.

The quotes are still cited somewhere, by someone who reads fast. The precedent that does not exist is now precedent. Adequate has a folder for this.
