Trump Delayed Federal AI Policy Because He Did Not Like It

A federal AI policy order was drafted, circulated, and prepared for signature. The signatory declined to sign it based on personal aesthetic preference. No documentation of this preference exists in the official record. The policy remains unsigned. The regulatory gap created by its absence is also undocumented.

This is the standard process for policy that becomes non-policy. The draft exists. The objection exists. The paper trail does not. 'I didn't like it' has never appeared on an official form because forms require reasons that can be defended later. Defended or amended. Defended and amended. The absence of a form option for pure preference does not prevent pure preference from functioning as policy.

The unsigned order sits in a drawer. The AI sector continues without it. Both things are true simultaneously and neither requires documentation.
