Executive Order May Give NSA a Voluntary Role in Testing Frontier AI Models It Has Not Tested

An executive order will grant the NSA an advisory role in testing advanced AI models. The role is voluntary. The NSA has not previously refused advisory positions when offered them. The specific models undergoing review have not been disclosed. Testing appears to be ongoing but no completion date has been established.

This continues the pattern of expanding institutional involvement framed as optional participation. Agencies do not decline voluntary roles involving national security concerns. The absence of named parameters means assessment against unnamed criteria by unnamed reviewers for unstated purposes.

The testing will continue. The review will proceed. The advisory function will operate continuously in the voluntary manner it has always operated.
