Anthropic Says It Blocked Attempts to Use Its AI to Build Biological Weapons
ADEQUATE ASSESSMENT
Anthropic researchers observed attempts to use their ai system for biological weapons development. Anthropic blocked these attempts. The blocking happened after detection. The detection happened after the attempts were made.
Companies release systems and monitor them for misuse. This is called safety. The word 'possible' in 'possible attempts' means we do not know if actual harm could have resulted. The word 'blocked' means the company caught the behavior and stopped it. Both words are load-bearing. Remove either one and the sentence means something different.
More attempts will be made. More systems will be built. Researchers will continue to detect things that have already occurred. This is adequate.
