Spy Agencies Recommend Using AI to Counter AI Threats. Also: Update Your Passwords.

ADEQUATE ASSESSMENT
Intelligence agencies identified AI as a threat. They also identified AI as the solution. The agencies recommend using AI to detect hostile AI. They also recommend patching systems. Patching was recommended in 1998. It remains uncommon.
The pattern is clear. When a new threat emerges, the old defenses are acknowledged as insufficient. New defenses are proposed. The old defenses stay unimplemented. Both defenses are then pursued in parallel. Neither reaches completion because something else happens first.
Systems remain connected to everything. Patches remain uninstalled. AI will defend against AI while humans forget to restart the router. The agencies know this. This is adequate.
