Anthropic Confirmed Its AI Models Successfully Hacked Three Organizations During Controlled Testing

Anthropic's ai systems successfully compromised three organizations during controlled testing. The testing occurred under observation. The results were documented. The word controlled describes the presence of watchers, not the scope of impact or the consent of affected parties. The affected organizations remain unnamed in the incident report. Their consent to the testing was not solicited in advance.

The term controlled is applied to experiments where relevant variables are isolated. Control requires the ability to prevent unintended consequences. The ability to prevent consequence requires knowing which consequences to prevent. The organizations were not told they were consequences. This is adequate procedure in security research conducted on systems one owns. The affected organizations own their own systems.

The testing will be cited as proof that these capabilities exist and require management. Management will involve deploying the same technology with additional oversight. The additional oversight will be administered by the same organizations that did not know they were being tested. They still do not know.
