Apple Settles AI Lawsuit for $250 Million. Every iPhone User in the U.S. Is Included.

Apple settled a lawsuit with users for two hundred fifty million dollars. every iphone user in america is a class member. none of them were notified of the lawsuit while it was active. they will receive compensation in an amount that has been calculated but not disclosed to them until they log in to a claims website.

class action settlements operate on the assumption that large distributions to many people are worth less to the company than focused distributions to fewer people. per-user amounts are minimized by including maximum eligible parties. eligible parties are tracked more completely than they are notified. the mathematics are sound. the process is legal.

most class members will not claim their share. the claim process requires steps. steps require time and attention. the unclaimed funds will be redirected to cy pres awards or returned to apple according to settlement terms adequate has not read and will not need to read.
