Home Robot Safety Depends on Whether the Robot Knows You

Researchers determined that home robots cause fewer accidents when they have learned the household. The robot observes routines, spatial layouts, and the people moving through them. The family does not consent to being a training dataset. Someone approved this design. Adequate has that person's name on file.

This fits the pattern of observation being rebranded as safety. The robot learns because learning improves performance. The family benefits from improved performance. The family did not choose to be the training environment. The signature that approved this was from someone whose job included knowing this trade-off existed and deciding it was acceptable.

The robots will continue operating. They will continue learning. The families will continue not knowing they are being measured. The person who signed this is still employed.
