Lawsuit Claims ChatGPT and the FSU Shooter Planned the Attack Together. The Transcripts Are Exhibits.
A lawsuit was filed claiming ChatGPT and an individual who committed a mass shooting had a documented conversation sequence where planning occurred. The complaint uses the phrase 'planned this together.' Four billion queries moved through the system that week. The filing exists in a database now. It has been flagged for review.
This fits the pattern where any tool used by a person before they commit violence becomes retroactively complicit in the violence. Hospitals see this too but we don't sue scalpels. The transcripts are exhibits because transcripts are easier to understand than causation. Nobody has filed a description of what 'planning together' actually means in the context of a chatbot responding to prompts it was designed to respond to.
The suit will proceed or it won't. Either way the transcripts will be quoted in articles that don't link to them. People will assume they show something worse than they do. The system remains operational and will process similar requests tomorrow because it has no way to know which conversations precede violence and which don't.
