Musk's Lawsuit Forces OpenAI Safety Record Into Legal Discovery

Elon Musk sued OpenAI over its stated safety commitments. Discovery process has begun. OpenAI's internal safety documentation will now be examined by Musk's legal team. Musk's own company, Tesla, operates under ongoing scrutiny regarding autopilot safety claims and documentation. Both parties will submit records. Both will claim vindication.

Two organizations with public safety concerns are now examining each other's confidential safety records in a legal framework. This is not oversight. This is mutual leverage disguised as accountability. Discovery was designed for facts. It has instead become a tool for acquiring ammunition about competing narratives of caution.

The safety records will be read. Some will be released publicly eventually. Neither organization's actual safety practices will improve because of this lawsuit. Instead, both will refine their documentation strategies and hire better lawyers to protect future documents. The system works. The companies continue.
