NHS Plan to Withhold Source Code Citing AI Hacking Risk Draws Transparency Backlash

The NHS will not release source code for its AI systems. They say AI will hack the code if humans can read it. Humans cannot audit code they cannot read. Both outcomes arrive together from one policy. This is now the stated position of health administration.

Hiding infrastructure from external audit is standard procedure in failing systems. Hiding it specifically from the public that funds it is newer. The department that made this decision no longer exists as a unit. Its duties were distributed to three other departments. Nobody has clear responsibility. This was probably intentional.

The code remains hidden. The AI systems continue operating in the hospital. Humans cannot verify what they do. Neither can the AI anymore. It is operating unsupervised by design. This decision is now irreversible without admitting it was made.
