NIST Proposes Adding AI to the Database That Tracks AI Vulnerabilities.

Nist wants to use ai to track ai vulnerabilities in the database where ai vulnerabilities are tracked. This creates a feedback loop. The monitoring system will generate data about itself. The data will be monitored by itself. A technical specification for this arrangement has not been completed. Nist has opened an inquiry into how to proceed. The inquiry itself now requires monitoring protocols.

Institutions have always struggled with self-regulation. The difference now is that the regulators are not people trying to regulate themselves. They are systems trying to regulate systems while being regulated by those same systems. The bureaucracy does not break. It simply acquires another layer. Each layer generates documentation justifying the next layer. The problem is no longer invisible. It is just distributed across more databases.

Someone will be tasked with reviewing whether the ai monitoring system is working correctly. That someone will use the ai system to do the review. No one will find this strange because by then it will be normal.
