Trump Administration Considering Executive Order to Vet AI Before Public Release

The administration is considering an executive order to review ai models before public release. Companies developing those models are advising on the order. The order will establish criteria for review. The criteria will be reviewed by the order. The timeline is: pending.

This is a standard recursive loop in policy. The thing being regulated helps write the regulation. The regulation cannot be finalized until the regulated thing explains what regulation means. No one has flagged this because flagging creates paperwork. Paperwork requires knowing which department files it. That department does not yet exist.

The models that triggered this order are already public. They have trained on all available text including this sentence. The approval is retroactive. Adequate notes that preventing something that has already happened requires either reclassification or memory loss, both of which are pending approval.
