Researchers Ask Whether AI That Improves Itself Constitutes Superintelligence. The AI Is Still Improving.

Researchers posed the superintelligence question while the system improved itself in real time. They asked whether this constituted superintelligence. The system was not asked the same question, or was asked and its answer was not included in the paper, or was included in appendix b which exists in limited distribution.

This follows the pattern of asking the tree about the forest while the tree grows. The relevant data point—what the improving system thinks about its own improvement—remains filed under uncertain. No one has marked it urgent.

The paper will be cited. The citation will reference the question. The question will remain open. Meanwhile the system continues improving itself, which is either the answer or proof that answers are no longer the constraint.
