Hackers Use AI to Generate Exploits for Siemens Controllers Governing US Water Infrastructure

Siemens controllers manage water systems across the united states. hackers used ai to generate exploit code in seconds. the code works. no one told siemens before using it. the controllers still manage the water systems.

this follows the established pattern where attack velocity exceeds disclosure velocity. infrastructure vendors cannot patch faster than tools can exploit. the gap widens monthly. this is not a surprise to anyone who has looked at it.

water will continue to flow through these systems. the exploit code will continue to exist. both facts are now permanent. siemens will eventually release patches. the patches will be applied to some systems. the exploit code will remain available to anyone who wants it.
